In the summer of 2023 we cleaned the Westbury White Horse to restore its iconic white appearance. The White Horse is a much-loved local landmark and symbol for Westbury and Wiltshire. It sits in an area of chalk grassland near the Iron Age fort of Bratton Camp, built 2000 years ago. Conservation work on the horse is a significant challenge due to the landmark’s size and location on a steep incline. Learn more about the challenges of conserving the White Horse here.

In the main street of Ludgershall is the surviving lower part of a large medieval cross. The cross shaft has fine sculpture showing scenes from the death of Jesus, including the Descent from the Cross.
