With the start of the summer holidays, the roads may be busier than usual. If you’re traveling to the castle via the M20/A20, we recommend using the M2/A2 corridor, the A299 towards Ramsgate and then following the A256 to Dover. If you need to use the M20/A20, we recommend coming off at Alkham Valley and using Alkham Valley Road or coming off at Capel and use old Folkestone Road B2011. Don’t forget you can also reach us by train!

You can book online until 8.45am on the day of your visit. You can still buy a ticket when you arrive, but you won’t get the discount.
Tickets are valid all day, so you can arrive at any time and stay for as long as you like within our opening hours.
Tickets are free for members. You can still book online if you’d like – just remember to bring your English Heritage membership card.
