SAVE £30 ON BLOCK PRINTING AT KENWOOD

Join us at Kenwood on Friday 19 July 2024 for a day of block printing and create stunning patterns inspired by your historic surroundings. The session will be led by art & design historian Francesca Herrick, who lectures at KLC School of Design and Chelsea College of Arts, as well as delivering workshops for The Courtauld Gallery.

Learn about the history of block printing and the pattern sources that influenced Robert Adam, the Neoclassical architect behind the beautiful designs at Kenwood.

This session is suitable for beginners - no previous printing experience is required!

The day will combine a curator’s talk, a tour with your workshop leader and plenty of making. You will come away with knowledge of:

  • how to select a motif;
  • how to make simple blocks without the need for specialist tools;
  • how to mark up your printing surface;
  • how to create a repeat design;
  • and how to incorporate several colours.

Large sheets of paper will be provided to generate designs suitable for wallpaper or fabric, but you are welcome to bring your own small paper items (e.g. notecards).
