The Operation Dynamo tour of the Secret Wartime Tunnels is currently closed for essential maintenance. The Underground Hospital is still available for you to visit. Please be aware that mobility scooters and wheelchairs are not permitted within the tunnels. From 9 November, some rooms in our Great Tower will look a little different during your visit while we carry out conservation work. See below for more details.

Conservation in the Great Tower

From 9 November, see vital conservation work taking place at Dover Castle. We’ll be working in two of the rooms in the Great Tower to remove brick from the ceiling which has been damaged by rainwater.

During this work we need to protect the replica medieval interiors, so we will be taking the hangings down and removing or covering the replica furniture.

We hope that this conservation work will be the first step in securing these rooms so that future generations can enjoy the lavish interiors of the Great Tower.
