Stonehenge was built to align with the sun on the solstices. This remarkable feat is celebrated each year in Summer and Winter. This year, Winter Solstice will take place on Tuesday 22 December.
Note: You must pre-book parking if choosing not to travel to Stonehenge by public transport. Please do not be tempted to abandon your vehicle and park it either on the A303 or other neighbouring roads and public rights of way. Cars parked illegally or causing an obstruction will be towed away.
Stonehenge will be open as normal from approximately 1pm on Tuesday 22 December.
